Les Deux Salons

There are only very few French restaurants that I find truly enjoyable and Les Deux Salons was one of these. Les Deux Salons is a traditional French brassiere and I thought it served good quality ingredients that were also prepared in a delicious way. Les Deux Salons is a sister restaurant to Arbutus (where I have been) and Wild Honey (which I have not visited) and it was opened in October 2010 by Anthony Demetre and Will Smith (not the actor). The brasserie is located in Covent Garden and is spread across 2 floors and the feel when you walk into the restaurant is very much like a traditional upmarket French brasserie.

I went to Les Deux Salons with my friend Yuri and for my starter Yuri and I both had the “ceviche of swordfish, lime, chilli and coriander” which was wonderful and you don’t really see swordfish that often on the menu and it was delicious, made zingy with the chilli and coriander. My main course was “hand chopped scottish beef tartare” which was as good as they get. Yuri’s main course was a “salad of seared yellowfin tuna, asian style”, which once again was delicious (Yuri let me try some for my restaurant critic career purpose). The tuna was perfectly seared just slightly on the outside and perfectly cut in this round shape and complemented the salad very well.

We shared a desert which was “soft meringue, sugared almonds and custard”, which was amazing, and reminds me a lot of the floating islands desert you can have in the Arts Club restaurant which is one of my favourite deserts in London.

This was a very enjoyable meal in a French brassiere. The atmosphere was pleasant, the food was full of flavour, good ingredients and well executed and presented.
