Ulus 29

Ulus 29 is a wonderful place in Istanbul ticking so many boxes. Ulus 29 is located on a hilltop in the upscale neighbourhood of Ulus, and besides the good food in the restaurant, there is a wonderful bar with fantastic views from of the Boshhorus and two of the bridges connecting Asia and Europe from high up. There is also a club called Club 29 where the young and trendy Turks go to party after their meal, and it one of the best clubs in Istanbul. Ulus opened in 1993 and is owned by Metin Fadıllıoğlu. The décor of Ulus 29 was designed by Zeynep Fadıllıoğlu.

The main chef at Ulus 29 is Mert ŞeranRoy and the restaurant reserve International dishes, traditional Turkish dishes and sushi. I have been to Ulus 29 a few times and I always have a great time there, and I always order the yogurtlu kebap (a dish that has kebab, sour cream, bread, green chillies and tomatoes), and this place does the best Yogurtlu Kebap I have had in Istanbul (so I always gain 2kg after going to this place but I can't help myself). Food is beautifully presented and is a nice mix of Turkish + European dishes, so you are guaranteed to find something you like even if you don’t like Turkish food. You can see pictures of some starters we all shared which included various typical Turkish dips and rice wrapped in wine leaves, as well as Turkish pizzas. The starters were good although I personally prefer the more traditional starters in Kosebasi. My colleague had fish, which you can see in the picture. The deserts we had in Ulus 29 were also excellent and I had there one of the best baklavas I have had.

For stunning views, good Turkish and International food, and also for a one stop food and clubbing place, head to Ulus 29.
