I loved the restaurants I visited and steaks I had when I was in Argentina a few years ago and I have been trying to find a restaurant in London to replicate this ever since. I was walking past Buenos Aires restaurant one day and it said it provides the “ultimate Argentine experience” and so I wanted to give it a try. Buenos Aires restaurant group was established in June 2007 and today has 8 steakhouses across London and south-east England (I guess the moment when I learnt it was  a chain I should have lowered my expectations). It was founded by Cristian and Linda Barrionuevo.

I had been to Zoilo (MMm), the sister restaurant of Casa Malevo, the week before and was really looking forward to going to Casa Malevo as my friends Katrina and Love, who live quite close to Casa Malevo, have been telling me how amazing it is and that Tony Blair lives close to the restaurant and sometimes goes there. Both restaurants serve Argentinian food, but Zoilo seems more casual and people mainly sit by the bar, whilst most people in Casa Malevo sit by wooden tables and chairs, and the inside reminded me a lot of the Argentinian steak restaurants I visited when I was in Buenos Aires, so it did feel authentic, which I really liked.

Zoilo is an Argentinian restaurant in Marylebone. Before this actual dinner, I had tried to go there twice before, but something always happened and I had to cancel, but I finally managed to make it there with my friend Fehim for a Tuesday dinner. Zoilo is located just north of Selfridges and serves Argentinian food in small plates that you share. I love Argentinian food after having been to Argentina 2 years ago, and so I was very keen to go to Zoilo as I don’t really know many good Argentinian restaurants in London. Zoilo is the second restaurant opened by the “Zoilo catering” group that started operating in 2007 and initially was an Argentinian food catering company, and the first restaurant they opened was Casa Malevo in 2010, just off Edgware road, where apparently Tony Blair goes, and that I am super keen to visit as I have heard great things about.
