Jamie Oliver is a very successful entrepreneur that has made a lot of money through his books and various restaurants and his latest venture is equally smart, a diner on Shaftsbury Avenue. Everyone in London these days is crazy for comfort food, burgers, pizzas, fried chicken, the type of food you should not eat, but somehow we think that if it is served in a nice restaurant and is more expensive than McDonalds and uses better meat, it is ok for us. Jamie’s latest restaurant appeals to people that love this sort of food and the menu features burgers, chicken, meatballs, tacos and ribs. Also he has labeled his new restaurant a “pop up” despite the fact that it will be here for 3 years, and my fiend Katrina was shocked when she found out about this and said that she would not have come if she knew it was going to be here for such a long time.

I do like unhealthy food and I love the occasional pizza, burger or fried stuff, but Wishbone just took it too far and after a few bites of their food I was feeling like my arteries were getting blocked and I was one step nearer to a heart attack.

If you like Nandos, you will absolutely love this place. Chicken Shop is located in Kentish Town, so unless you live there, it is not really in most people’s way and this is a “destination restaurant”, as in you have to make a trip to go there, but it is really worth it, if you are a chicken fan. Chicken Shop is owned by the same people as Pizza East, and there is also a Pizza East located on the ground floor of the same building where Chicken Shop is (Chicken Shop is located in the basement). Chicken Shop as the name suggests serves chicken and not much more. The menu is super small and this I have noticed is a trend these days as more and more really specialized restaurants are opening up with only very few things on the menu (e.g. Burger and Lobster).

I had read many reviews about this new restaurant in Shoreditch on Rivington Street and owned by the HIX group, and so when my Latvian girl friends asked me where to hold our catch up dinner I suggested this place. I have noticed that the trend in London restaurants these days is to have a very small and focused menu, a lot of the places where I have been recently offer a small choice of carefully thought out dishes, and Tramshed is one of these places that for the main course only offers steak and chicken (and some salads with steak and chicken). You can have a chicken (they call it Roast Woolley Park Farm free-range chicken) for 1 person, which costs £15 (smaller chicken like the one I had) and also a bigger chicken that is supposed to be for 2/3 people and costs £25 (this looks much cooler, and if you go to Tramshed I suggest you have this one).
