As you may remember from my previous reviews, I absolutely love the Vietnamese casual café/ restaurant City Caphe (MMMMm) near bank station, and whenever I am near bank station, I try to go there. I was therefore very excited when one of my friends told me that another Vietnamese restaurant – Bep Haus – had opened also near the bank station, and I was keen to go and try it out. Unfortunately Bep Haus and City Caphe are like night and day, they could not serve more different food.

To do a good review on Bep Haus I visited it three times, and you can’t imagine how upset I was when I knew I had to visit this place for the second and also the third time and eat their not very good Vietnamese food, when I knew City Caphe was just around the corner. It was food torture.

I love Vietnamese food and so it was very easy to persuade me to go to Viet Grill, a Vietnamese restaurant on Kingsland road, the road in London that houses many Vietnamese restaurants. Viet Grill is a pleasant Vietnamese restaurant as it has modern chairs, tables and is clean, it is not one of those dodgy ones, so if you are new to Vietnamese food, this is a good place where to try it. When I opened the menu thought I felt like I knew it and had seen it before, and the reason for this is, as I later found out, that Viet Grill is a sister restaurant to Cay Tre, another Vietnamese restaurant, which I often visit. The menu at Cay Tre is great in my view, so I did like the dishes I could get at Viet Grill.

I have been delaying the review of City Caphe for a long time, as I love this place so much and the queues outside it are so long already, I don’t want to contribute to making this place even more popular and the queues even longer. City Caphe is a cheap and cheerful Vietnamese restaurant in the city, close to bank station. After travelling to Vietnam I fell in love with their food, and I was so happy when my friend Will told me about this place and I discovered an amazing place where to have delicious Vietnamese food for lunch.

Salvation in Noodles (or SIN as they like to call themselves) is a Vietnamese restaurant in Hackney. They have a question written on the wall “have you SINed today”. As my boyfriend and I love Vietnamese food, we decided to try out this place on a Saturday evening. The place is not located next to any tube stations and required a 15min walk from Hackney station. The inside is plain, but what you would expect from a casual Vietnamese restaurant. The restaurant was quite full when we arrived and when we left, however from the name I thought it would be a more fun and a bit “cooler” place.

My boyfriend and I love Vietnamese food and are always hunting for new Vietnamese restaurants in London. A few weeks ago when we were walking in Soho my boyfriend noticed the restaurant “House of Ho” and instantly thought it was Vietnamese (I was not so sure and had to google to confirm it was a Vietnamese restaurant). On the next available Saturday evening we made our way to House of Ho for dinner.

I think Cay Tre is one of the best, if not the best, Vietnamese restaurants in London, and I can only say that after having been to Vietnam and afterwards on the menu of Cay Tre finding dishes that I had in the most remote smallest restaurants in Vietnam. In Cay Tre you can get almost every typical and non that common Vietnamese dish. It is remarkable to have a restaurant in London that is so authentic and that I can go to and have dishes I never thought I would find in London.

It was a Saturday lunchtime, my boyfriend had just finished running and he said we should go and get some traditional Vietnamese pho soup. We had just come back from Vietnam the previous week, so their food was still very much in our minds, and we loved having pho almost every day in Vietnam. I googled where we could go and get pho in Central London. Three restaurants came up when I googled Vietnamese food in central London, and we had already been Pho and Cay Tre, so we decided to try something else, the restaurant Com Viet in Covent Garden.

I usually don’t follow trip advisor’s recommendations about restaurants, as I tend to find that the top rated places can sometimes be a bit bizarre cafes and small places I would not want to have dinner in , but in this case I did find 3t Quan Nuong restaurant through tripadvisor. I was googling restaurants in Ho Chi Minh city and one page led me to another and not long afterwards I was looking at 3t restaurant and reviews on trip advisors, where this is ranked as the 40th best restaurant in Ho Chi Minh city. The reviews described 3t Quan Nuong restaurant as a grill restaurant where you cook your own meat and fish in front of you and that sort of intrigued me and I was ready to go there.

I went to Viet Nam House in Ho Chi Minh city as my travel guide mentioned it, but I had one of my worst meals in Vietnam there. Viet Nam House is located close to the busy touristy and shopping streets in Ho Chi Minh city and was about 10 minutes walk from my hotel. The restaurant is apparently located in a restored French colonial house. When we went there, there was live music, a lady playing the piano, which was sort of nice.

Mango Mango is a Vietnamese fusion restaurant and a very interesting one, as I had never had Vietnamese fusion food before. Mango Mango is located on the south side of Hoi An and overlooks the Japanese Bridge, one of the things you have to see in Hoi An. The atmosphere is very funky and this restaurant could be in London, they do great cocktails, great fusion dishes but unfortunately this restaurant also does charge somewhat more western prices.

We went to Mango Mango for dinner as I had read about it in my guide book and it was quite close to our hotel and we fancied a break from the typical traditional Vietnamese food. When we arrived we were seated on the outside terrace overlooking the street, which I thought is more interesting, as you can see what is going on, although you can also be seated inside. The whole outside area was full and we took the last table, which shows that this place is quite popular.
